Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP-IPFT government in Tripura on March 8, a senior official said on Saturday.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held at the Vivekananda ground in Agartala. “Chief Secretary SK Sinha is holding a meeting with senior officials regarding the Prime Minister's visit to the state. The SPG team is also arriving today. The prime minister will come to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new government on March 8,” a report mentioned.
Meanwhile, BJP state vice president Rebati Tripura said that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is the chairman of NEDA, is likely to come today. "Besides, senior party leaders and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states will also be invited to witness the swearing-in ceremony of the new government," he added.
In the north-eastern state, BJP in-charge Mahesh Sarma and in-charge of election management Mahendra Singh. "The meeting of newly elected party members is yet to be finalised," BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said.
Earlier on Friday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha tendered his resignation to Governor Satyade Narain Arya. He told reporters that the new government will be sworn in on March 8 and PM Modi is expected to attend the event.
In the recently concluded Tripura elections, the BJP won 32 seats in the 60-member assembly, while its ally the IPFT won one seat.
